  • Apostle Price: Welcome to "Ever Increasing Faith."
  • 00:00:07.190 --> 00:00:11.010
  • Dr. Betty Price: Grow in godliness.
  • 00:00:11.020 --> 00:00:14.130
  • Frederick K. Price, Jr.: We walk by faith, not by sight.
  • 00:00:14.140 --> 00:00:17.200
  • With the power of faith, you can do the impossible.
  • 00:00:17.210 --> 00:00:24.240
  • With the power of faith,
  • 00:00:24.250 --> 00:00:28.090
  • you can live a victorious life, changing
  • 00:00:28.100 --> 00:00:32.170
  • one life after another from burned-out hopes
  • 00:00:32.180 --> 00:00:36.260
  • to gleaming joy.
  • 00:00:36.270 --> 00:00:39.030
  • With the power of faith, you can change your life.
  • 00:00:39.040 --> 00:00:43.130
  • Let the power of faith transform your life.
  • 00:00:43.140 --> 00:00:48.270
  • Apostle Price: Hebrews chapter 11.
  • 00:00:50.060 --> 00:00:52.190
  • Last time we were together we started a new series called
  • 00:00:52.200 --> 00:00:58.200
  • "The Faithfulness of God."
  • 00:00:58.210 --> 00:01:01.250
  • And we're looking at some things that I think will bring into
  • 00:01:01.260 --> 00:01:09.010
  • closer view things that have to do with the faithfulness of God.
  • 00:01:09.020 --> 00:01:16.000
  • For "By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive
  • 00:01:16.010 --> 00:01:19.160
  • seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age."
  • 00:01:19.170 --> 00:01:26.150
  • Why?
  • 00:01:26.160 --> 00:01:28.000
  • "Because she judged Him faithful who had promised."
  • 00:01:28.010 --> 00:01:32.220
  • Now we have in our little hot hand 66 books of promises.
  • 00:01:32.230 --> 00:01:40.110
  • How often or has anyone judged him faithful who has promised?
  • 00:01:42.250 --> 00:01:51.010
  • And you can tell that many, many Christians don't count him
  • 00:01:51.020 --> 00:01:55.230
  • faithful by virtue of the response to what's in his Word.
  • 00:01:55.240 --> 00:02:01.180
  • And that response has to be lived out in our lifestyles.
  • 00:02:01.190 --> 00:02:05.040
  • Hm, don't all talk at once.
  • 00:02:05.050 --> 00:02:11.000
  • Now, anytime we come in contact with one another--well,
  • 00:02:11.010 --> 00:02:16.280
  • that's not really where I wanted to go.
  • 00:02:16.290 --> 00:02:19.050
  • I got ahead of myself there.
  • 00:02:19.060 --> 00:02:21.210
  • Whenever we talk about Abraham and Sarah
  • 00:02:21.220 --> 00:02:24.280
  • we always go to Romans chapter 4.
  • 00:02:24.290 --> 00:02:28.100
  • So let's go there and we'll use that
  • 00:02:28.110 --> 00:02:30.170
  • as our jumping off place today.
  • 00:02:30.180 --> 00:02:32.180
  • Romans chapter 4. Chapter 4.
  • 00:02:32.190 --> 00:02:35.220
  • Sarah is a excellent example of this idea of illustrating
  • 00:02:43.210 --> 00:02:51.210
  • the faithfulness of God.
  • 00:02:51.220 --> 00:02:55.230
  • Many times, Christians, we say,
  • 00:02:55.240 --> 00:02:57.290
  • "Oh yes, hallelujah, God is faithful."
  • 00:02:58.000 --> 00:03:01.200
  • But then they seem to deny it so many times
  • 00:03:01.210 --> 00:03:05.280
  • in the life that they live.
  • 00:03:05.290 --> 00:03:09.270
  • Because the life we live ought to be an extension of what we
  • 00:03:09.280 --> 00:03:14.260
  • believe and where we are in reference to our faith.
  • 00:03:14.270 --> 00:03:20.010
  • And if you look at some of the actions of Christians, you
  • 00:03:20.020 --> 00:03:24.020
  • wonder, do they really believe?
  • 00:03:24.030 --> 00:03:27.190
  • Okay, Romans chapter 4.
  • 00:03:27.200 --> 00:03:30.090
  • If you have it, say, "I have it."
  • 00:03:30.100 --> 00:03:32.040
  • Verse 12.
  • 00:03:32.050 --> 00:03:38.010
  • Well, rather, verse 18.
  • 00:03:38.020 --> 00:03:40.000
  • Look at verse 18.
  • 00:03:40.010 --> 00:03:43.190
  • Talking about Abraham.
  • 00:03:43.200 --> 00:03:45.130
  • It says: "Who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he
  • 00:03:45.140 --> 00:03:51.220
  • became the father of many nations, according to what was
  • 00:03:51.230 --> 00:03:55.020
  • spoken, 'So shall your descendants be.'
  • 00:03:55.030 --> 00:03:59.140
  • And not being weak in," what?
  • 00:03:59.150 --> 00:04:02.210
  • "He did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was
  • 00:04:02.220 --> 00:04:06.280
  • about 100 years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb.
  • 00:04:06.290 --> 00:04:11.140
  • He did not waver," or stagger, "at the promise of God through
  • 00:04:11.150 --> 00:04:15.210
  • unbelief, but was strengthened," or actually was strong, "in
  • 00:04:15.220 --> 00:04:19.150
  • faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what
  • 00:04:19.160 --> 00:04:25.250
  • He," God, "had promised He," God, "was also able to perform."
  • 00:04:25.260 --> 00:04:31.130
  • Now, it seems again that all the emphasis is on Abraham.
  • 00:04:31.140 --> 00:04:35.190
  • It's like he's gonna have this child by himself.
  • 00:04:35.200 --> 00:04:38.230
  • You know what I mean?
  • 00:04:38.240 --> 00:04:40.090
  • It doesn't indicate anything, here at least, about Sarah.
  • 00:04:40.100 --> 00:04:43.080
  • And we just read it in Hebrews where it pinpointed Sarah
  • 00:04:43.090 --> 00:04:48.010
  • without mentioning Abraham.
  • 00:04:48.020 --> 00:04:50.100
  • So they both had their place to fulfill.
  • 00:04:50.110 --> 00:04:54.170
  • But this is interesting because if we're not careful we would
  • 00:04:54.180 --> 00:04:58.140
  • think, "Okay, Abraham did all this by himself.
  • 00:04:58.150 --> 00:05:01.180
  • Sarah didn't have anything to do with it."
  • 00:05:01.190 --> 00:05:03.170
  • Ha, ha, that's not true.
  • 00:05:03.180 --> 00:05:05.050
  • That's not true.
  • 00:05:05.060 --> 00:05:08.060
  • Now, the reason that we might think that, that Sarah didn't
  • 00:05:08.070 --> 00:05:15.240
  • have anything to do with this, only Abraham, is because the
  • 00:05:15.250 --> 00:05:20.020
  • last time we saw Sarah she was laughing.
  • 00:05:20.030 --> 00:05:25.110
  • She laughed.
  • 00:05:25.120 --> 00:05:30.170
  • Abraham was a man of faith, but so was Sarah.
  • 00:05:30.180 --> 00:05:35.190
  • They both brought Isaac into the world.
  • 00:05:35.200 --> 00:05:39.210
  • As the old saying goes, it takes two to tango.
  • 00:05:39.220 --> 00:05:44.010
  • Both of them brought Isaac into the world.
  • 00:05:44.020 --> 00:05:46.030
  • The question is how did Sarah turn into a woman of faith
  • 00:05:46.040 --> 00:05:52.250
  • after she laughed?
  • 00:05:52.260 --> 00:05:55.230
  • How did that come to pass?
  • 00:05:55.240 --> 00:05:59.240
  • Well, how do you know that God is faithful?
  • 00:05:59.250 --> 00:06:07.020
  • "Well, I believe it."
  • 00:06:07.030 --> 00:06:08.230
  • Well, you ought to believe it but it has to come to a point
  • 00:06:08.240 --> 00:06:13.250
  • where it gets past believing and it comes to such
  • 00:06:13.260 --> 00:06:17.130
  • a thing as knowing.
  • 00:06:17.140 --> 00:06:21.070
  • So Genesis chapter 18.
  • 00:06:21.080 --> 00:06:25.170
  • Let's look at verse 10 because this, through the people that
  • 00:06:25.180 --> 00:06:28.280
  • appeared, they're probably angelic beings that appeared to
  • 00:06:28.290 --> 00:06:32.000
  • Abraham, it says in verse 10: "And He said, 'I will certainly
  • 00:06:32.010 --> 00:06:36.290
  • return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah
  • 00:06:37.000 --> 00:06:41.170
  • your wife shall have a son.'
  • 00:06:41.180 --> 00:06:44.000
  • (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)
  • 00:06:44.010 --> 00:06:48.170
  • Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced
  • 00:06:48.180 --> 00:06:52.070
  • in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.
  • 00:06:52.080 --> 00:06:57.170
  • Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying,
  • 00:06:57.180 --> 00:07:01.140
  • 'After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure,
  • 00:07:01.150 --> 00:07:04.200
  • my lord being old also?'
  • 00:07:04.210 --> 00:07:08.030
  • And the Lord said to Abraham, 'Why did Sarah laugh,
  • 00:07:08.040 --> 00:07:11.120
  • saying, "Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?"
  • 00:07:11.130 --> 00:07:15.160
  • Is anything too hard for the Lord?
  • 00:07:15.170 --> 00:07:18.100
  • At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the
  • 00:07:18.110 --> 00:07:21.290
  • time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.'"
  • 00:07:22.000 --> 00:07:26.290
  • Now, Sarah laughed but--and everybody seems
  • 00:07:27.000 --> 00:07:31.260
  • to remember that, that when the angel told,
  • 00:07:31.270 --> 00:07:35.060
  • or the Lord told them that, that Sarah laughed.
  • 00:07:35.070 --> 00:07:38.000
  • But, as I pointed out last time as we closed,
  • 00:07:38.010 --> 00:07:40.120
  • Abraham laughed too.
  • 00:07:40.130 --> 00:07:43.030
  • Yeah, look, look, look, look at the 17th chapter.
  • 00:07:43.040 --> 00:07:49.080
  • Genesis 17.
  • 00:07:49.090 --> 00:07:57.160
  • Look at verse 15.
  • 00:07:57.170 --> 00:07:59.120
  • If you have it, say, "I have it."
  • 00:07:59.130 --> 00:08:00.290
  • It says: "Then God said to Abraham,
  • 00:08:01.000 --> 00:08:02.130
  • 'As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai,
  • 00:08:02.140 --> 00:08:10.010
  • but Sarah shall be her name.
  • 00:08:10.020 --> 00:08:12.070
  • And I will bless her and also give you a son by her;
  • 00:08:12.080 --> 00:08:16.210
  • then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations;
  • 00:08:16.220 --> 00:08:21.080
  • kings of peoples shall be from her.'
  • 00:08:21.090 --> 00:08:24.210
  • Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed,
  • 00:08:24.220 --> 00:08:27.240
  • and said in his heart, 'Shall a child be born to a man
  • 00:08:27.250 --> 00:08:31.050
  • who is 100 years old?
  • 00:08:31.060 --> 00:08:34.020
  • And shall Sarah, who is 90 years old, bear a child?'"
  • 00:08:34.030 --> 00:08:39.200
  • Interesting. So Abraham laughed also.
  • 00:08:39.210 --> 00:08:44.180
  • Now, my Bible says that the word "laugh" means to rejoice.
  • 00:08:44.190 --> 00:08:51.230
  • But you can't tell it from the context, just by reading it.
  • 00:08:51.240 --> 00:08:55.070
  • It's, ha, ha, it sounded like doubt.
  • 00:08:55.080 --> 00:09:00.250
  • And I looked up this word "laugh" in the Hebrew and found
  • 00:09:00.260 --> 00:09:05.130
  • it to be the same "laughed" as in Genesis 18.
  • 00:09:05.140 --> 00:09:09.190
  • So both of them, Sarah and Abraham, they both laughed.
  • 00:09:09.200 --> 00:09:13.180
  • This was, "Ha, ha, what?
  • 00:09:13.190 --> 00:09:17.220
  • I'm 100 years old, Sarah is 90, we're gonna have a child.
  • 00:09:17.230 --> 00:09:21.150
  • Mm-hm."
  • 00:09:21.160 --> 00:09:26.000
  • I believe they both doubted.
  • 00:09:26.010 --> 00:09:29.110
  • Now, look at Genesis 17 again
  • 00:09:29.120 --> 00:09:38.180
  • and look at verse 17 and 18.
  • 00:09:38.190 --> 00:09:41.200
  • Says: "Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed,
  • 00:09:41.210 --> 00:09:44.050
  • and said in his heart, 'Shall a child be born to a man
  • 00:09:44.060 --> 00:09:46.170
  • who is 100 years old?
  • 00:09:46.180 --> 00:09:48.290
  • And shall Sarah, who is 90 years old, bear a child?'
  • 00:09:49.000 --> 00:09:53.080
  • And Abraham said to God, 'Oh, that Ishmael
  • 00:09:53.090 --> 00:09:56.290
  • might live before You!'"
  • 00:09:57.000 --> 00:09:59.160
  • So obviously, Abraham, he couldn't buy into this.
  • 00:09:59.170 --> 00:10:02.130
  • He was like, "No, no, no, no.
  • 00:10:02.140 --> 00:10:03.240
  • It just doesn't work this way.
  • 00:10:03.250 --> 00:10:05.180
  • Hundred years old, 90 years old, Sarah's always been barren.
  • 00:10:05.190 --> 00:10:09.030
  • So he's trying to circumvent what God said to him and say,
  • 00:10:09.040 --> 00:10:12.140
  • "Why can't we just let Ishmael, let him be the one."
  • 00:10:12.150 --> 00:10:17.270
  • Interesting, interesting.
  • 00:10:17.280 --> 00:10:22.140
  • Now, go back to Genesis again, back to the 18th chapter.
  • 00:10:22.150 --> 00:10:32.150
  • And let's read this again because this is gonna
  • 00:10:33.090 --> 00:10:35.110
  • be a jumping off place for something else that we wanna
  • 00:10:35.120 --> 00:10:37.170
  • get into shortly.
  • 00:10:37.180 --> 00:10:39.000
  • 18, if you have it, say, "I have it."
  • 00:10:39.010 --> 00:10:41.020
  • Okay, verse 12.
  • 00:10:41.030 --> 00:10:44.110
  • It says: "Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying,
  • 00:10:44.120 --> 00:10:47.120
  • 'After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure,
  • 00:10:47.130 --> 00:10:49.250
  • my lord being old also?'
  • 00:10:49.260 --> 00:10:52.010
  • And the Lord said to Abraham, 'Why did Sarah laugh,
  • 00:10:52.020 --> 00:10:55.180
  • saying, "Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?"
  • 00:10:55.190 --> 00:10:59.190
  • Is anything too hard for the Lord?
  • 00:10:59.200 --> 00:11:02.240
  • At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the
  • 00:11:02.250 --> 00:11:06.160
  • time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.'"
  • 00:11:06.170 --> 00:11:13.080
  • Now, the question arises why did Abraham and Sarah respond
  • 00:11:13.090 --> 00:11:19.220
  • the way they did?
  • 00:11:19.230 --> 00:11:21.170
  • You would think, I mean, Sarah had never had a child.
  • 00:11:21.180 --> 00:11:24.210
  • She was barren, couldn't have a child.
  • 00:11:24.220 --> 00:11:26.150
  • You would think they'd have been jumping somersaults
  • 00:11:26.160 --> 00:11:28.130
  • and flipping out, "Whoo!
  • 00:11:28.140 --> 00:11:30.020
  • Going to have a child, wow!
  • 00:11:30.030 --> 00:11:32.010
  • Outstanding!"
  • 00:11:32.020 --> 00:11:33.220
  • Why did they laugh? What?
  • 00:11:33.230 --> 00:11:36.090
  • What happened here?
  • 00:11:36.100 --> 00:11:38.010
  • What happened was that when God spoke that word to them,
  • 00:11:38.020 --> 00:11:43.240
  • they heard the word and it entered into their minds
  • 00:11:43.250 --> 00:11:48.140
  • and their minds began to calculate and evaluate.
  • 00:11:48.150 --> 00:11:54.260
  • Did you know that your mind is made to calculate and evaluate?
  • 00:11:54.270 --> 00:12:01.050
  • That's normal.
  • 00:12:01.060 --> 00:12:02.270
  • God intended for your mind to calculate and evaluate.
  • 00:12:02.280 --> 00:12:09.060
  • God created it to do that.
  • 00:12:09.070 --> 00:12:12.140
  • So when we do that, we are not doing something against God.
  • 00:12:12.150 --> 00:12:18.170
  • When Abraham and Sarah heard that,
  • 00:12:18.180 --> 00:12:21.010
  • their minds began to calculate, ha-ha, ha-ha, and evaluate.
  • 00:12:21.020 --> 00:12:26.250
  • In other words, their minds began to ask the question,
  • 00:12:26.260 --> 00:12:31.040
  • "What's the possibility of this coming to pass in my life?
  • 00:12:31.050 --> 00:12:37.110
  • Up against my present circumstances, present
  • 00:12:37.120 --> 00:12:42.250
  • situation, and condition?
  • 00:12:42.260 --> 00:12:45.100
  • I'm an old man and Sarah has always been barren."
  • 00:12:45.110 --> 00:12:51.140
  • That had to come into their minds.
  • 00:12:51.150 --> 00:12:54.140
  • And it's natural.
  • 00:12:54.150 --> 00:12:58.120
  • Now, when we calculate, pick up on this.
  • 00:12:58.130 --> 00:13:02.240
  • When we calculate and evaluate,
  • 00:13:02.250 --> 00:13:06.130
  • you will eventually come up with an answer.
  • 00:13:06.140 --> 00:13:11.120
  • Abraham and Sarah calculated and they evaluated
  • 00:13:11.130 --> 00:13:16.110
  • and their minds came up with an answer.
  • 00:13:16.120 --> 00:13:21.130
  • Now here is the place of challenge.
  • 00:13:21.140 --> 00:13:25.260
  • Listen to this carefully.
  • 00:13:25.270 --> 00:13:28.010
  • The answer of your mind will always be the biggest obstacle
  • 00:13:28.020 --> 00:13:35.130
  • that you will have to overcome in order for the promise of God
  • 00:13:35.140 --> 00:13:39.090
  • to come to pass in your life.
  • 00:13:39.100 --> 00:13:43.260
  • I'll say that again.
  • 00:13:43.270 --> 00:13:45.190
  • That's exceedingly important to get.
  • 00:13:45.200 --> 00:13:48.030
  • I'm gonna say that again, I'll say it again.
  • 00:13:48.040 --> 00:13:54.220
  • Here is the place of challenge.
  • 00:13:54.230 --> 00:13:59.260
  • The answer of your mind will always be the biggest obstacle
  • 00:13:59.270 --> 00:14:08.050
  • that you will have to overcome in order for the promise of God
  • 00:14:08.060 --> 00:14:13.210
  • to come to pass in your life.
  • 00:14:13.220 --> 00:14:18.140
  • Whatever that answer is.
  • 00:14:18.150 --> 00:14:20.100
  • After you calculate and evaluate,
  • 00:14:20.110 --> 00:14:22.260
  • you're gonna come up with an answer.
  • 00:14:22.270 --> 00:14:25.130
  • And that answer, whatever it is, that answer will be the biggest
  • 00:14:25.140 --> 00:14:28.140
  • challenge you will have to overcome to be able
  • 00:14:28.150 --> 00:14:32.090
  • to receive the promise of God.
  • 00:14:32.100 --> 00:14:34.050
  • Whatever it might be, whatever that promise might be.
  • 00:14:34.060 --> 00:14:37.040
  • How can that come to pass? I'm old, Sarah's old.
  • 00:14:37.050 --> 00:14:42.090
  • Or I don't have a job. I haven't been to college.
  • 00:14:42.100 --> 00:14:47.170
  • I don't have a degree.
  • 00:14:47.180 --> 00:14:51.080
  • And so then you begin to evaluate and calculate, say,
  • 00:14:51.090 --> 00:14:54.170
  • "What's the possibility of this coming to pass?"
  • 00:14:54.180 --> 00:14:59.220
  • My mama raised me without a father in the home.
  • 00:14:59.230 --> 00:15:02.230
  • How am I gonna make it? But what did God say?
  • 00:15:02.240 --> 00:15:06.190
  • What does the Word say?
  • 00:15:06.200 --> 00:15:08.200
  • And that's where you're gonna have a challenge.
  • 00:15:08.210 --> 00:15:17.130
  • Evaluating and calculating is not wrong.
  • 00:15:17.140 --> 00:15:21.170
  • Say that.
  • 00:15:21.180 --> 00:15:26.200
  • And what happens so many times is we feel bad
  • 00:15:26.210 --> 00:15:31.230
  • because we did--that we did that.
  • 00:15:31.240 --> 00:15:34.100
  • That we took the time to evaluate and calculate,
  • 00:15:34.110 --> 00:15:40.220
  • and people have condemned themselves.
  • 00:15:40.230 --> 00:15:42.020
  • Christians has condemned themselves because of it.
  • 00:15:42.030 --> 00:15:44.200
  • It's kinda like saying, "Well, gee, I didn't have enough--I
  • 00:15:44.210 --> 00:15:47.010
  • didn't have enough faith to believe what God said."
  • 00:15:47.020 --> 00:15:50.140
  • That's what can come up into your spirit.
  • 00:15:50.150 --> 00:15:54.220
  • If I evaluate and calculate, it's like saying, "Well, I don't
  • 00:15:54.230 --> 00:15:58.060
  • really have enough faith to believe that God's gonna do what
  • 00:15:58.070 --> 00:16:00.040
  • he said he's gonna do or that his Word will work."
  • 00:16:00.050 --> 00:16:06.240
  • We sometimes feel like we--we feel like we should have said,
  • 00:16:06.250 --> 00:16:10.180
  • "Be it to me as the Lord has said."
  • 00:16:10.190 --> 00:16:14.000
  • You know, just boom, boom, boom.
  • 00:16:14.010 --> 00:16:15.270
  • So it's--you can get on a guilt trip because you think,
  • 00:16:15.280 --> 00:16:19.060
  • "Well, I questioned this.
  • 00:16:19.070 --> 00:16:21.210
  • I looked at this and I questioned this.
  • 00:16:21.220 --> 00:16:25.040
  • If I give 10% will God really open the windows
  • 00:16:25.050 --> 00:16:28.030
  • of heaven in my life?
  • 00:16:28.040 --> 00:16:30.270
  • I mean, look at the economic times.
  • 00:16:30.280 --> 00:16:35.020
  • Look at the situation with prices going out of control
  • 00:16:35.030 --> 00:16:37.260
  • everywhere, all over the world.
  • 00:16:37.270 --> 00:16:39.080
  • How is this gonna happen, windows of heaven blessing?"
  • 00:16:39.090 --> 00:16:44.250
  • So then we think that we've sinned, as it were,
  • 00:16:44.260 --> 00:16:48.030
  • because we question.
  • 00:16:48.040 --> 00:16:50.110
  • Your mind will always calculate and evaluate.
  • 00:16:50.120 --> 00:16:54.270
  • That's the way it's made.
  • 00:16:54.280 --> 00:16:57.260
  • Then somebody say, "Yeah, but, ha, ha, I mean, Kenneth Hagin
  • 00:16:57.270 --> 00:17:03.220
  • wouldn't do that.
  • 00:17:03.230 --> 00:17:06.030
  • Kenneth Copeland wouldn't do that.
  • 00:17:06.040 --> 00:17:08.240
  • Jerry Savelle, he wouldn't do that.
  • 00:17:08.250 --> 00:17:11.040
  • And surely Fred Price wouldn't do that."
  • 00:17:11.050 --> 00:17:17.140
  • Let me tell you we all do it. We all do it.
  • 00:17:17.150 --> 00:17:22.290
  • And it's not wrong. It's not wrong.
  • 00:17:23.000 --> 00:17:27.270
  • What's wrong, listen carefully.
  • 00:17:27.280 --> 00:17:31.010
  • What's wrong with evaluating and calculating that after your mind
  • 00:17:31.020 --> 00:17:38.010
  • comes up with an answer if that answer goes contrary to the Word
  • 00:17:38.020 --> 00:17:44.020
  • of God and you remain faithful to the answer that came up after
  • 00:17:44.030 --> 00:17:49.270
  • you evaluated and calculate, then you're in problems.
  • 00:17:49.280 --> 00:17:52.210
  • That's a problem.
  • 00:17:52.220 --> 00:17:54.060
  • That's wrong. That part's wrong.
  • 00:17:54.070 --> 00:17:55.240
  • To evaluate and calculate is not wrong, in itself.
  • 00:17:55.250 --> 00:17:59.090
  • But when you do evaluate, when you do calculate,
  • 00:17:59.100 --> 00:18:02.160
  • you will come up with an answer.
  • 00:18:02.170 --> 00:18:06.090
  • Now, the problem again, and the thing that's wrong, is if you
  • 00:18:06.100 --> 00:18:10.080
  • remain loyal to your mind's evaluation and calculation
  • 00:18:10.090 --> 00:18:15.150
  • if that evaluation and calculation goes contrary
  • 00:18:15.160 --> 00:18:19.020
  • to the Word of God.
  • 00:18:19.030 --> 00:18:20.280
  • That's where the problem is.
  • 00:18:20.290 --> 00:18:22.130
  • Did you get that?
  • 00:18:22.140 --> 00:18:30.200
  • Abraham and Sarah were no different than us.
  • 00:18:30.210 --> 00:18:36.120
  • Now, I'm gonna show you a group of people in the Bible, a group
  • 00:18:36.130 --> 00:18:43.120
  • of people who remained loyal to their minds' conclusions
  • 00:18:43.130 --> 00:18:50.080
  • and some people who did not remain loyal
  • 00:18:50.090 --> 00:18:52.160
  • to their minds' conclusions.
  • 00:18:52.170 --> 00:18:56.040
  • I'll show you a group--so that you can look at yourself, you
  • 00:18:56.050 --> 00:19:00.190
  • know, because the bottom line comes back to,
  • 00:19:00.200 --> 00:19:02.130
  • okay, what about me?
  • 00:19:02.140 --> 00:19:04.120
  • Not my wife, not my husband, not my children, not my parents.
  • 00:19:04.130 --> 00:19:07.020
  • It's gonna be you.
  • 00:19:07.030 --> 00:19:09.170
  • And so we have--sometimes people, they'll say, "Okay,
  • 00:19:09.180 --> 00:19:14.060
  • what, you know, I'm under the new covenant so I don't need to
  • 00:19:14.070 --> 00:19:17.140
  • read the Old Testament," but the stories and the word pictures
  • 00:19:17.150 --> 00:19:21.180
  • and the illustrations that are in there are to give us living
  • 00:19:21.190 --> 00:19:25.080
  • examples of the things that the Word teaches us.
  • 00:19:25.090 --> 00:19:28.250
  • So we've got to look at some things probably that you've read
  • 00:19:28.260 --> 00:19:32.170
  • before and maybe so long ago that they're not currently in
  • 00:19:32.180 --> 00:19:37.040
  • your thinking patterns but will illustrate without any question
  • 00:19:37.050 --> 00:19:42.030
  • or doubt the value of understanding this principle of
  • 00:19:42.040 --> 00:19:48.220
  • evaluating and calculating and then staying loyal to your
  • 00:19:48.230 --> 00:19:54.120
  • mind's answer to that evaluation and calculation if your mind's
  • 00:19:54.130 --> 00:20:00.160
  • conclusion goes contrary to the Word of God.
  • 00:20:00.170 --> 00:20:04.170
  • That's what becomes a stumbling stone, that's what becomes bad.
  • 00:20:04.180 --> 00:20:09.140
  • Because then you're saying, in essence,
  • 00:20:09.150 --> 00:20:11.120
  • "God, your word's no good."
  • 00:20:11.130 --> 00:20:14.230
  • As bad as you are, I don't think you're that bad,
  • 00:20:14.240 --> 00:20:16.140
  • you wanna tell God his word is no good.
  • 00:20:16.150 --> 00:20:20.080
  • So we're gonna look at some--we're
  • 00:20:20.090 --> 00:20:22.080
  • gonna look at some things.
  • 00:20:22.090 --> 00:20:24.150
  • Some people that remain loyal to their mind's evaluation and
  • 00:20:24.160 --> 00:20:28.060
  • calculation and some who didn't.
  • 00:20:28.070 --> 00:20:31.250
  • And it's, ha, ha, it's an eye-opener and, as we go through
  • 00:20:31.260 --> 00:20:37.060
  • this, what's gonna be really critical and important to see if
  • 00:20:37.070 --> 00:20:44.210
  • you line up with one or the other.
  • 00:20:44.220 --> 00:20:51.190
  • Because really, life's issues, there is absolutely nothing new
  • 00:20:51.200 --> 00:20:58.150
  • under the sun, really.
  • 00:20:58.160 --> 00:21:02.120
  • I mean, you get down to the nitty, nitty gritty, only
  • 00:21:02.130 --> 00:21:05.160
  • difference is this year is cherry flavored, last year it
  • 00:21:05.170 --> 00:21:09.110
  • was root beer flavored, you know?
  • 00:21:09.120 --> 00:21:12.160
  • Or now you got a cell phone and a iPad but really, the real
  • 00:21:12.170 --> 00:21:18.020
  • issues of life, they haven't changed.
  • 00:21:18.030 --> 00:21:19.120
  • It's the same thing.
  • 00:21:19.130 --> 00:21:21.060
  • Same old, same old, same old.
  • 00:21:21.070 --> 00:21:23.030
  • So we're gonna look at this. Go to Numbers chapter 13.
  • 00:21:23.040 --> 00:21:29.020
  • Numbers chapter 13.
  • 00:21:29.030 --> 00:21:34.000
  • I can remember when I first got into the--I've never called it
  • 00:21:34.010 --> 00:21:41.020
  • that but the detractors and the naysayers, they call it that,
  • 00:21:41.030 --> 00:21:46.150
  • the prosperity message.
  • 00:21:46.160 --> 00:21:49.250
  • I believe in prosperity and I've taught on prosperity
  • 00:21:49.260 --> 00:21:52.030
  • but I've never used the term "prosperity message"
  • 00:21:52.040 --> 00:21:56.060
  • 'cause that's a misnomer.
  • 00:21:56.070 --> 00:21:58.100
  • It's a Word of God message.
  • 00:21:58.110 --> 00:22:02.100
  • It's not like it's a separate message.
  • 00:22:02.110 --> 00:22:04.100
  • We may talk about it and study it so that we can understand it
  • 00:22:04.110 --> 00:22:09.020
  • but it's all part of the whole.
  • 00:22:09.030 --> 00:22:11.120
  • It's not something over here all by itself.
  • 00:22:11.130 --> 00:22:14.100
  • Because if it were, then you might have prosperity and end up
  • 00:22:14.110 --> 00:22:16.260
  • going to hell anyway, so what's, you know, what's that about?
  • 00:22:16.270 --> 00:22:19.250
  • You know what I mean?
  • 00:22:19.260 --> 00:22:21.160
  • So--but it's all inclusive but we do have to talk about them
  • 00:22:21.170 --> 00:22:24.020
  • separately to dissect the aspects of it so that we can
  • 00:22:24.030 --> 00:22:27.060
  • plug into it.
  • 00:22:27.070 --> 00:22:29.210
  • And I can remember, I mean, it was a--it was a frightening
  • 00:22:29.220 --> 00:22:32.270
  • thing to me mentally.
  • 00:22:32.280 --> 00:22:35.060
  • My mind evaluated and calculated.
  • 00:22:35.070 --> 00:22:38.060
  • Man, I'm already up the creek in a boat with no oars, financially
  • 00:22:38.070 --> 00:22:41.270
  • and economically.
  • 00:22:41.280 --> 00:22:43.200
  • We couldn't pay the bills.
  • 00:22:43.210 --> 00:22:46.020
  • Now, how am I gonna get up, offer 10% and give it to the
  • 00:22:46.030 --> 00:22:48.160
  • church, give it to God and survive?
  • 00:22:48.170 --> 00:22:51.200
  • We're barely making it now.
  • 00:22:51.210 --> 00:22:54.090
  • So the mind--my mind was evaluating and calculating but
  • 00:22:54.100 --> 00:22:57.190
  • it had to get to a point where the Word of God superseded my
  • 00:22:57.200 --> 00:23:01.100
  • mind's conclusion to that evaluation and
  • 00:23:01.110 --> 00:23:04.190
  • calculating process.
  • 00:23:04.200 --> 00:23:06.120
  • Ooh, and am I ever glad I did.
  • 00:23:06.130 --> 00:23:10.170
  • Am I ever glad I did, Lordy Miss Claudy, whoa!
  • 00:23:10.180 --> 00:23:16.250
  • I'm serious.
  • 00:23:16.260 --> 00:23:18.100
  • I am. I know that's old but it still works.
  • 00:23:18.110 --> 00:23:22.160
  • Oh, it was awesome.
  • 00:23:22.170 --> 00:23:24.060
  • But at first, your mind will evaluate and calculate.
  • 00:23:24.070 --> 00:23:27.100
  • How am I gonna make it? I'm struggling now economically.
  • 00:23:27.110 --> 00:23:30.110
  • How am I gonna give up--get up, offer 10%?
  • 00:23:30.120 --> 00:23:34.220
  • Well, you gotta find out is God faithful or not.
  • 00:23:34.230 --> 00:23:39.150
  • And see, you will never know until you do.
  • 00:23:39.160 --> 00:23:44.280
  • Speculation, no, that's not gonna cut it.
  • 00:23:44.290 --> 00:23:48.160
  • You actually have to put it into operation.
  • 00:23:48.170 --> 00:23:53.010
  • I coined an expression and you will remember me having said
  • 00:23:53.020 --> 00:23:58.260
  • this when I tell you what it is.
  • 00:23:58.270 --> 00:24:00.230
  • I always say, "Do what the Word says and let it fail."
  • 00:24:00.240 --> 00:24:05.220
  • That's the only way you're gonna really know.
  • 00:24:05.230 --> 00:24:09.170
  • Do what it says and then that way you can dispense with it.
  • 00:24:09.180 --> 00:24:13.020
  • You don't have to spend any more time.
  • 00:24:13.030 --> 00:24:15.050
  • You will know the Word doesn't work.
  • 00:24:15.060 --> 00:24:17.190
  • But just be sure you work it like the Word said work it.
  • 00:24:17.200 --> 00:24:21.270
  • Huh?
  • 00:24:21.280 --> 00:24:23.270
  • It said take two pills before each meal three times a day and
  • 00:24:23.280 --> 00:24:27.140
  • you taking nine pills or none and then you complaining about,
  • 00:24:27.150 --> 00:24:33.120
  • "Ah, that didn't work. It didn't work."
  • 00:24:33.130 --> 00:24:35.140
  • I guess it didn't. You didn't do what it said.
  • 00:24:35.150 --> 00:24:38.170
  • See, you thought you were gonna improve.
  • 00:24:38.180 --> 00:24:40.050
  • "Well, if two pills a day after--or before every meal will
  • 00:24:40.060 --> 00:24:43.070
  • help me, maybe three or four pills may do even better.
  • 00:24:43.080 --> 00:24:45.260
  • Right, put you in the graveyard, that's what it'll do.
  • 00:24:45.270 --> 00:24:48.230
  • It will. It'll help you.
  • 00:24:48.240 --> 00:24:51.020
  • Okay, Numbers chapter 13.
  • 00:24:51.030 --> 00:24:52.120
  • If you have it, say, "I have it."
  • 00:24:52.130 --> 00:24:55.090
  • Okay, look at this, verse 20.
  • 00:24:55.100 --> 00:24:59.100
  • Let's see if--I wanna be sure I got this right.
  • 00:24:59.110 --> 00:25:04.020
  • Now, here's a scenario.
  • 00:25:04.030 --> 00:25:07.100
  • The children of Israel had been liberated from Egyptian bondage.
  • 00:25:07.110 --> 00:25:12.260
  • Crossed the Red Sea with supernatural powers of God
  • 00:25:12.270 --> 00:25:14.260
  • in manifestation.
  • 00:25:14.270 --> 00:25:16.270
  • Traversed the wilderness, came to the banks
  • 00:25:16.280 --> 00:25:19.090
  • of the Jordan River.
  • 00:25:19.100 --> 00:25:21.110
  • Across the river was Canaan land, the land that flows with
  • 00:25:21.120 --> 00:25:26.090
  • homogenized milk and honey.
  • 00:25:26.100 --> 00:25:29.240
  • Milk and honey, have we all heard of that?
  • 00:25:29.250 --> 00:25:32.080
  • And so God told the leaders to pick out one man out of each one
  • 00:25:32.090 --> 00:25:39.090
  • of the 12 tribes and then send them into the land.
  • 00:25:39.100 --> 00:25:45.040
  • We say, "spy it out," check it out, see if it's what God said.
  • 00:25:45.050 --> 00:25:50.240
  • And so they did.
  • 00:25:50.250 --> 00:25:52.230
  • They were out there for 40 days and they came back.
  • 00:25:52.240 --> 00:25:54.260
  • Now, Numbers 13.
  • 00:25:54.270 --> 00:25:57.240
  • You say you have it?
  • 00:25:57.250 --> 00:25:59.120
  • Okay, verse 25: "And they returned from spying out the
  • 00:25:59.130 --> 00:26:03.260
  • land after 40 days.
  • 00:26:03.270 --> 00:26:06.210
  • Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the
  • 00:26:06.220 --> 00:26:11.160
  • congregation of the children of Israel in the Wilderness of
  • 00:26:11.170 --> 00:26:14.260
  • Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the
  • 00:26:14.270 --> 00:26:20.050
  • congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.
  • 00:26:20.060 --> 00:26:24.080
  • Then they told him, and said: 'We went to the land
  • 00:26:24.090 --> 00:26:26.210
  • where you sent us.
  • 00:26:26.220 --> 00:26:28.130
  • It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.'"
  • 00:26:28.140 --> 00:26:36.120
  • I don't know if you've ever seen the emblem of Israel but it
  • 00:26:36.130 --> 00:26:39.270
  • shows two men walking, carrying a stalk of grapes and the grapes
  • 00:26:39.280 --> 00:26:44.080
  • are as big as oranges.
  • 00:26:44.090 --> 00:26:46.000
  • Anybody ever see--ever pay any attention to that?
  • 00:26:46.010 --> 00:26:48.290
  • Okay, that's where that came from, from this.
  • 00:26:49.000 --> 00:26:51.040
  • male announcer: This program is now available to you on
  • 00:26:51.290 --> 00:26:53.190
  • compact disc or DVD.

  • CD copies are available for your love gift of any amount.

  • 00:27:08.050 --> 00:27:12.270
  • Indicate the number you see on your screen
  • 00:27:12.280 --> 00:27:14.250
  • and join us again on "Ever Increasing Faith."
  • 00:27:14.260 --> 00:27:17.250
  • Bringing to you the power of faith
  • 00:27:17.260 --> 00:27:19.210
  • to transform your life.
  • 00:27:19.220 --> 00:27:21.190
  • female announcer: "Let us hold fast the confession of our
  • 00:27:22.220 --> 00:27:24.120
  • hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful."
  • 00:27:24.130 --> 00:27:27.220
  • But when God gives a promise, our minds start to process it,
  • 00:27:27.230 --> 00:27:30.270
  • and that's where the challenge lies.
  • 00:27:30.280 --> 00:27:33.010
  • Apostle Price: Did you know that your mind is
  • 00:27:33.020 --> 00:27:35.120
  • made to calculate and evaluate?
  • 00:27:35.130 --> 00:27:39.070
  • That's normal.
  • 00:27:39.080 --> 00:27:40.200
  • How can that come to pass?
  • 00:27:40.210 --> 00:27:42.130
  • I haven't been to college.
  • 00:27:42.140 --> 00:27:44.070
  • I don't have a degree.
  • 00:27:44.080 --> 00:27:48.190
  • And so then you begin to evaluate and calculate,
  • 00:27:48.200 --> 00:27:51.240
  • say, "What's the possibility of this coming to pass?
  • 00:27:51.250 --> 00:27:54.170
  • How am I gonna make it?"
  • 00:27:54.180 --> 00:27:57.040
  • But what did God say?
  • 00:27:57.050 --> 00:27:58.200
  • What does the Word say?
  • 00:27:58.210 --> 00:28:00.160
  • And the thing that's wrong is if you remain
  • 00:28:00.170 --> 00:28:03.130
  • loyal to your mind's evaluation and calculation,
  • 00:28:03.140 --> 00:28:08.080
  • if that evaluation and calculation goes contrary
  • 00:28:08.090 --> 00:28:11.220
  • to the Word of God.
  • 00:28:11.230 --> 00:28:13.180
  • That's where the problem is.
  • 00:28:13.190 --> 00:28:14.280
  • announcer: "The Faithfulness of God."
  • 00:28:14.290 --> 00:28:16.140
  • Get this Bible study series and come to know that he who
  • 00:28:16.150 --> 00:28:19.060
  • promised is always faithful.
  • 00:28:19.070 --> 00:28:21.240
  • announcer: Produced by Ever Increasing Faith Ministries and
  • 00:28:22.100 --> 00:28:24.080
  • you, our faithful friends and partners in this area.
  • 00:28:24.090 --> 00:28:27.090
  • Thank you.
